What You'll Do

 

The YWCA Angeline's Center for Homeless and Low in-come women supports the efforts of King County Housing Authority to ensure that homeless women with multiple barriers to self-sufficiency have their basic needs met. The goal of this program is to help women overcome barriers and secure stable and sustainable housing.

 

This position has a social justice component that will require critical thinking around how the external systems impact the work that we are doing through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty. Knowing the core principals of antiracism work and grounding those principles in everyday work, as well as working well in non-white environments and championing anti-racism policy, are required job skills and core values. Expectations of your role:
  • Recruits, screens, determines eligibility, enrolls and orients program participants
  • Assesses clients' needs (housing & employment)
  • Conducts a needs assessment with each client to determine barriers to self-sufficiency
  • Provides clients with support services and/or makes referrals or linkages to other community agencies to resolve barriers to housing, employment and other basic needs
  • Works as a member of case management team and in concert with other community service providers to deliver support services and ensure follow -through; develops and maintains these collaborative relationships
  • Maintains complete and accurate client files
  • Assists in collecting and compiling client statistics and in the completion of program reports
  • Keeps resource materials updated
  • Meets with clients on a weekly basis, maintains case files, documents services provided and tracks client progress
  • Shows demonstrated ability to interact with people of different cultures
  • Continues search for understanding of racial, gender and class equity
  • Adheres to all Volunteer Services protocol relative to volunteer usage, recognition, and monitoring.
  • Works alongside volunteers, where applicable
  • Assures that volunteers are treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnic background, gender or socioeconomic background
  • Other duties as assigned
Must have's to be successful:
  • Minimum of two years working with homeless and low income women.
  • Drivers license required
  • Commitment to diversity
  • Extensive knowledge of housing and community resources
  • Ability to connect and collaborate with other agencies within the community
  • Excellent written and oral skills

Hours, Rate, and Benefits

Hourly Rate: $25.00
