Madison County Sheriff's Office Communications Center Dispatcher in Madison, Florida

[This is a highly responsible position involving the receipt and transmission of crucial information, often in moments of crisis to include life threatening and hostile situations, through telephone and radio communications. DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Maintain a courteous and professional attitude toward the public, other agencies, and divisions within the Sheriffs.

Rotating 12 hour shifts 0600-1800 1800-0600 and mid shift assignments.

Any other duties as assigned by a Communications Supervisor, Undersheriff, or the Sheriff.

JOB PREREQUISITES:

18 years of age, High School diploma or equivalency. Shall have effective communication skills both, verbally and in writing. Multi-tasking abilities, computer knowledge, FCIC/NCIC certifications, satisfactorily pass all applications, backgrounds, oral interviews, Drug Screening, and physical examinations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Indoor environment in a non-public access facility. Requires shift work, which may be rotated. Required to work holidays and weekends as scheduled and required to work overtime when necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Intermittent performance of extreme emotionally demanding work. Typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. May involve lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. Tasks may also involve standing and/or sitting for long periods of time. Visual perception and discrimination is required as well as being able to isolate and distinguish critical sounds. ]{new="" roman="" times=""}
