Veralto Senior Researcher in Glen Allen, Virginia

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

A Senior Researcher has five to ten years of experience in industrial cooling/ boiler/ process side water treatment with extensive knowledge in scale inhibition, corrosion inhibition, and microbiological control application. The optimal candidate may be a subject matter expert in one or more of these applications and have a general knowledge of most applications. The ideal candidate will have experience innovating, developing, lab testing, and applying chemical treatments. Candidates will work closely with the sales team to develop new products and troubleshoot customer issues. Travel could be up to 30% as required to provide technical support to field sales.

This role is onsite, located in Ashland, Virginia.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and carry out complex cross-functional projects tied to strategic product development as well as basic research focusing on corrosion and scale control applications for industrial water treatment.

  • Plan cross-functional rapid innovation, and basic research projects. Participate in project planning kaizens, problem solving kaizens, etc.

  • Ensure product lines reflect leading-edge technology and identify product line gaps and opportunities for product sales margin expansion.

  • Travel to customer sites to provide technical support, trial support and help troubleshoot customer problems

  • Write customer-facing reports and present technical data to customers.

  • Comply with laboratory chemical hygiene plan and laboratory housekeeping

  • Develop and document technical procedures

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Advanced familiarity with common laboratory instruments, equipment, and techniques

  • Solves complex problems using existing solutions

  • Advanced Technical, Analytical skills and business knowledge

  • Communication and Interpersonal skills; Teamwork and leadership

  • Analyzes and solves problems using ChemTreat

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. degree in chemistry or related field with over 10 years of experience in water treatment or a higher degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • Experience in water treatment related to scale inhibition, corrosion inhibition, microbiological control, or related applications preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Routinely required to sit, reach with hands and arms

  • Constantly using hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, and computer keyboards

  • Occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk, hear, and smell.

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

  • The work environment consists of an indoor laboratory environment with good ventilation, adequate lighting, and moderate noise levels.

  • The Field work environment can consist of extreme noise levels, large moving machinery, slip trip and fall hazards, poor ventilation, poor lighting, confined spaces and presence of toxic substances.

  • Use of hazardous chemicals is routine.
