TITLE: Youth Development Coordinator (Summer) DEPARTMENT: Programs REPORTS TO: Director of Grants and Programs

PRIMARY FUNCTION: A Summer Youth Development Coordinator is a temporary summer position responsible for programming during the summer program for the Boys and Girls Club of Brown County. The Youth Development Coordinator (YDC) works with members in all grades by coordinating activities during summer programming. This position also supervises members, evaluates activities and outcomes within the specific program area, supporting our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character, and Citizenship.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Prepare Youth for Success Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:

  • Promote and stimulate program participation.
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members.

Program Development and Implementation

  • Effectively plan, implement, and administer programs, services and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure Club and child safety, quality programs and good appearance of the Club at all times.

Supervision

  • Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly staff meetings.
  • Recognize and react quickly to problems challenges and quickly stop undesirable behaviors.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May participate in special programs and/or events.
  • Access facility needs and perform janitorial duties as assigned, mopping, cleaning walls, bathrooms, etc.

RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.

External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to move around activity area to supervise members.
  • Must be able to lift at least 10 lbs.
