JOB ASSIGNMENT: Seasonal/Part-Time BALLPARK LABORER JOB NUMBER: 20-1022 DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation PAY: $13.26 per hour IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Sports Complex Crew Chief
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This is a seasonal position and is scheduled to work less than 30 hours per week and less than 1000 hours per fiscal year. A non-supervisory position with journeyman level with responsibility for the performance of skilled manual labor, including the care and maintenance of ballparks and other recreational facilities operated by the city; primary responsibility is for ballpark maintenance. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood I SERVE Core Values.
EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WORK PERFORMED:
- Cut grass and ball fields
- Irrigate and fertilize
- Cleans restrooms in complex and recreational buildings
- Repairs fences, gates, bleachers and general maintenance including assisting others as needed
- Polices parks and recreational areas to assure they are kept clean
- Mark fields to specifications of the leagues
- Drives a City vehicle from site to site in order to perform duties
- Performs other duties as assigned by Recreation Supervisor and Sports Complex Crew Chief.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various worksites.
- Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to potentially hazardous mechanical and chemical hazards.
- Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and 50-75 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push brooms, sweep, and dig.
- Ability to walk over uneven, sloped and uneven terrain.
- Work involves getting dirty and wet, cutting grass and tree limbs.
- Employee will be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes, and odors.
- Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with the public.
- Ability to understand verbal and written communication.
- Outdoors, subject to exposure to adverse weather conditions, noise, dust, and physical demands of manual labor; required to work flexible hours when necessary.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: Some contact with the general public; normal contact with other city employees.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must have enough education to read and write.
